Things to know about our telehealth program

  • New and established patients can utilize telehealth visits.
  • We can bill Medicare, Minnesota Medicaid and health insurance plans for these visits. If you do not have insurance the cost for a telehealth visit is $150.00.
  • All telehealth visits will be completed, with any prescriptions sent, after your insurance has been verified or payment has been collected.
  • Telehealth visits cannot be used for a full skin check.
  • Video visits are scheduled by calling 218-454-7546 option 7. Virtual Check-Ins, which utilize photos instead of real-time interaction, may be initiated at any time. Our office will strive to complete the Virtual Check-In within one business day.
  • If theĀ patient has not been seen at one of the Dermatology Professionals locations or outreach sites within the past three years, the age appropriate Patient Registration form in the next section must be completed before a telehealth visit can be scheduled and completed.

Video Visit versus Virtual Check-In information

Video Visit

  • Video Visits are the preferred telehealth option as it allows the patient and provider to have real-time communication utilizing audio and video via laptops and devices with webcam and microphone capability. Patients and clinical staff can ask questions, the provider can get a better view of the problem areas, and make a diagnosis in real-time.
  • Video Visits require a scheduled appointment time as the visits are initiated by the provider.

To initiate a Video Visit:

  • Call 218-454-7546 option 7 to schedule a Video Visit appointment time if you have not already done so.
  • If you allowed the app to send notifications, you will get a push notification when the provider is ready for you to join the video visit.
  • When notified the provider is ready, log into the app and on the Video tab, click Join Video Visit.

Virtual Check-In

  • Virtual Check-Ins allow the patient to initiate a visit at any time and no appointment is needed.
  • The patient will answer questions regarding the reason for their visit, take photos if applicable, and submit their visit. Within one business day the provider will review the submitted visit, send information back to the patient, and send a prescription if applicable.
  • These visits can be initiated on a computer, laptop, or any device that has a camera. A webcam and microphone are not necessary for this type of telehealth visit.
  • The patient or guardian may need to speak with a receptionist or our billing department prior to the provider reviewing the Virtual Check-In if there is an issue with verifying insurance or to collect payment if you do not have insurance.

To initiate a Virtual Check-In:

  • Log into the PocketPatient app and on the Virtual tab, click Request Virtual Check-In.
  • Complete the questions, take photos if applicable, and submit the visit.
  • If you allowed the app to send notifications, you will get a push notification when the provider has reviewed the Virtual Check-In.
